ZX H/brake cable replacements

Post by RichardW »

Got to fit new cables on the ZX next weekend (one parted company, might as well do both, as the other looks suspect). Fortunately this one has rear discs, so no stripping of the drums required :P Just wondered if anybody's got any tips for common pitfalls?

Replaced the drivers side cable which is certainly a little easier than the passenger side, just make sure you have a comfortable pillow/cushion in the back seats to lean on when your undoing the nut to loosen the cables, talk about back breaking and it seems to take forever

just taken mine off too about 2 mins to do the handbrake end.

A deep socket does wonders.

Job done. Whilst discs might avoid the need to remove the drums, it doesn't stop the ferrule on the cable rusting into the caliper  The drivers side took over an hour of hammering, making special tool, careful heating with blowlap to persuade it out
