C5 2.0i Gearbox Jerking

Post by EricH »

The gearbox of my 2001 C5 2.0i Petrol has been acting strangely. Sometimes, when stopping at traffic light, the car would not move even though I have released the brake and the gear indicator is on D. Upon pressing the accelerator, the car would jerk once before moving. Anyone encounters similar problem? Help appreciated.

How does it behave in sequential mode?
Sounds like an adjustment on the cable is needed or the fluid level checked.
cheers!

It behaves the same with sequential mode. The gearbox oil has been changed not long ago and proxio diagnosis revealed no problems with the gearbox at all. Are you referring to the brake cable? Thanks.

i'm refering to the selector cable. It could need to be adjusted if, for instance, the gearbox selector would not put the gearbox in the exact position, i.e., instead of "D" it would be 5mm from that position and when the car revs it "slips" the 5mm and engages D.
P, N and R engage ok?

Are you certain that the correct fluid was used?

Thanks chaps! P, N & R engage ok. AL4 transmission fluid was used. I am just wondering whether the problem has anything to do with solenoid valves.
