Xantia keeps cutting out.

Post by dereks »

Can anyone shed any light on this problem?

My 98 Xantia HDI keeps cutting out on me. It has been into the Citroen dealers following the first time it did this and had a pressure sensor replaced. When I picked the car up again it lasted for about 35 miles before the problem returned. The engine management light comes on, and the engine just loses power. I don't know if this could be linked to the brakes at all but the brake pedal does not seem to spring back very far and the brakes seem a bit "soft".
The garage said that the only fault displayed on the diagnostics was a problem with the pressure sensor but they are going to have another look next Friday. I am not mechanically minded so please keep any replies in layman terms or at least so that I can pass it on to the guys in the garage.

Thanks
Derek.

I believe the HDI's in general suffer from problems with the fuel pump. Could be the initial stage of a failing fuel pump.
