16v Brakes Compatibility

Post by rossnunn »

Looking round at ZX 16v brake discs (see my other post) there seems to be two different disc sizes, are these different front / rear or are they bigger fronts on the later models etc? (I know there were 2 different power outputs) if this is the case, will the bigger discs fit the smaller carriers without modification?

2 diff power outputs?

as far as I know, all 16v's had single pot floating pistons front and rear. Front discs 266mm vented (only zx with this size), rear 247mm solid (as per all other rear disc zx's)

If you want bigger discs then I doubt the calipers will fit without an adapter, simpler to raid a xsara vts or 406 estate etc with the 283mm front setup but as I said in other thread, no need at all if setup right unless you have about 500kg of subs etc in yours :)

I could have put money on there were two diffrent brake sizes at the front & that the later 16v were more powerful that the earlier ones.

*goes off to investigate*

The 167bhp ones may have had the bigger discs but I still dont believe any were sold in this country as they only came out in mid 96. One bloke said 15 were and ive had 3 people tell me they owned one. One wouldnt send me a photo, 2 did and they were 150/155's as given away by inlet manifold
