Go to a 'proper' trade motor factors we have central or AMF round here, they are much cheaper than the halfords, wilco's etc. Battery for the dyane inhalford 38 quid, same think from central 16.

Pays to look.

Funnily enough, the one in the BX died without warning last week :-({|= !!Fine one day, dead the next.

Only 4 years old as well.........mind you, I use the car for work and its starting the engine 10 to 15 times a day,so that's not bad I suppose....its probably about 7-8 years in normal usage.

£45.00 for a new one from Clarkins in Walthamstow, not bad for a diesel battery.I wouldn't have one delivered, though. If you go to the factors to buy one you can get the old one checked, to be certain it is faulty:there's no point in buying a new one if its a charging fault-they put mine on a drop tester which confirmed its demise- every good spares place will have a tester.

Hmm yeah thats how mine seems to have gone, I didnt use it all day sunday and came to it Monday morning and it was flat as a pancake. Previously it had started fine on the button, but I had used it every day. I jump started it with the 206 and it has been fine since. Maybe it didnt appreciate standing in the cold all day on sunday. Think its definately on its way though - I did accidently run down the battery 3 times over the summer by leaving the stupid cd player going with the volume turned down and I doubt this did me any favours! £25 definately soudns preferable to £60  !

I fitted a new one yesterday to daughter's 306. I got a Bosch 065 from GSF for just under £45. Wasn't until I went to fit it that I realised it needed a new set of gloplugs as well. Two were duff. Hell of a job (DW8 engine)with so much having to be removed first. The Pug is 1998 model and it was on the original battery, so can't grumble about that. I've also got a '98 Saxo which is doing fine and that is still on its original battery. But my '98 2.1 Xantia's battery packed up at only three years old. Batteries are a lottery, it seems.
