Pug 306 GTI 6

Post by Peter D »

Hi, Just acquired this car and very clean it is too. However I have a miss fire for the first 10 minutes when clod. When hot is is fine. Coil packs measure 1.3 ohms primary each but there is a very high resistance between the secondary and anything., Is there an arch gap in these Sagem coils that causes this. Any ideas on what the miss fire may be would be appreciated. Presently changing plugs and checking all cabling. Regards Peter

Hi

You have answered your own question there mate.

The SAGEM coil pack, This is your problem, Peugeot have ditched Sagem as a supplier because of the coil pack fiasco, Go & get an Electrofill coil pack & your problem will be solved.

Also, Bosch or Peugeots own brand of Equiem spark plugs are the ONLY ones you should be fitting, Even quality ones like NGKs cause problems on these engines.

Also take NOTE: The XU10J4RS engine fitted to your GTI6 is well known for SNAPPING the cambelt well before the recommended mileage interval stated by Peugeot, Anybody leaving a belt change longer then 36K miles on one of these is asking for bent valves & a BIG bill!

Did the Xsara VTS suffer from the same cambelt and coil problems?
