question about anti sink sphere...

Post by erez »

Hi all,
I'm from israel....

I have a xantia 2.0 8v 1997. (that runs on lpg)
My anti sink sphere is flat, does it affect the brakes?
or anything else other then the sinking?
Thank you very much!

Hi, yes it affects the rear brakes, but only in so much as providing an emergency back up of hydraulic pressure.

should system pressure fail or drop to a certain critical level the security valve and anti sink valves will close and lock out the supply of pressure to the rear brakes, the anti sink sphere provides an emergence supply of pressure for a short time under these conditions.

Thanx,
I'm asking because i have a problem (maybe not...)
My brakes are not as violent as i think they should be, but!
I bled the brakes, no air in the system, the pads are new, the main sphere is new, and! i don't have the spring between the brake pedal and the brake valve.
What else could be the problem, only my anti sink sphere is flat, and there is absolutly no anti sink sphere in israel for the last two months.
Plus, no one in israel knows that the "rear center sphere" (as they call it), is actually an anti sink sphere...,
Any ideas?

If the pads are brand new, that might be the reason. As they run in, the braking will improve.

I once got some pads for my ZX cheap 8) , unfortunatly the breaking performance was way off :( So if your pads are of dubvious origine, that could also be your problem.
