Xantia 1.9TD Boost

Post by johnway »

Hello,
Lost power due to (I suspect) turbo boost pipe coming adrift - can someone please tell me where on the engine to start looking? I have limited time available for research so a quick guide from you enthusiasts would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks,
John.

I Blame it all on my Dad!! (Sadly had to give up driving & his 2nd BX) but Mum still has a C1.

Could be 2 boost problems, first being no boost, in which case check all the high pressure pipework from the turbo (in the exhaust) to the engine inlet manifold.

The second is that the thing is boosting n9icely but no additional fule is being injected. I'm not sure of the pump fitted to your car but certainly the earlier ones have a small pipe from the high pressure system to the injection pump and this pipe is prone to splitting and falling off. This is the more likely problem.

If its a high pressure boost pipe come adrift you should be able to hear a 'whooshing' noise at full throttle, the pressure sensing pipe that Jeremy mentioned, is a small pipe about 3/8" diameter connect to the pump, follow it and see where the other end goes.
