C15 owner needing advice!

Post by Wizzywig »

Hi,

Just joined the forum so hello to everybody here!

Ive just got a 2001 C15 van and I am well chuffed with it. Ive had various Cits over the years incl visa gti,bx estate, bx Gti 16v, zx volcane etc. but this is my first C15. I would like advice regarding a few subtle modifications I`d like to carry out. First is the suspension. I`d like to get the van riding a bit lower, I think its turning the torsion bars at the rear, whats the best for the front end? Also can anyone confirm the types of wheels I could fit to it (alloys) I was thinking Pug 309 1.9 wheels or zx volcane or similar. Last question, Id like to fit nicer seats inside, is there any seats that bolt straight in to the C15? I was thinking ax gt....
I know its ugly, it will never be cool, but I like it, the girlfriend keeps reminding me I am not 18 anymore...... :? thanks!!

A very cool mod to a C15 : fit a 1.7L turbodiesel engine from a BX 8)
- you will get a rocket

Or even better a 2.1, if you can find somewhere to put the intercooler.

There is a certain C15 within the Citroen Car Club that has the front subframe from a BX fitted - some models are very similar to the C15 I understand, So it has hydraulic suspension on the front, full powered brakes and the best bit, the BX 16v engine :-)

Sit down, shut up and hold on :-)

This certain CCC Blue C15 actually has BX rear suspension, BX16v engine and a Visa GTi front track (no hydraulic suspension up front).

Its an absolute animal, the owner is a well known cit specialist down south. Both him and his son are top blokes too!

Hey i was close :-)

Its been a while since I've seen it.

I remember now as the visa Gti and diesel visa front clips are the same.

Yep I saw that C15 at a recent Visa meeting. Certaintly nice although his claims of 200bhp with just minor head work were hilarious and utterly wrong but I couldnt bother to get into a discussion about engine tuning with him. Photos on here http://www.sevenoaksmotorclub.com/cgi-b ... f=1;t=1628

Thanks for posting the pic of the van, gives me an idea how they look lowered. Ive fitted a heavy duty battery to mine and I rekon its putting out about 215bhp now, can hardly keep it going in a straight line....really eating through the diesel now. :D

heh at least 215, if not more! I am a bit more realistic with mine, its 175 at most up from 160 standard as I only have fast road cams, gas flowed and ported head and k&n.

So you have the MI16 conversion in the Visa then? Bet that goes like a rocket, I remember my Visa GTi wasnt exactly slow with the standard 1.6. Espcially round roundabouts! How difficult was the conversion?..its something I may consider in a C15 one day myself, whayt sort of fuel economy do you get from it? Better than the Supra I suppose....

Check out my website for a couple of photos http://www.visagti.com and some videos if you want an idea :)

The swap isnt too bad as engine swaps go. I had to "modify" the bulkhead with a club hammer. I originally had a shortened inlet manifold on which meant moving the radiator forward an inch. For this season I moved it a bit more and tilted it and then fitted a very slim line fan which I rigged up to manual switchs on the dash. This meant I could get the full length one in. All engine mounts are the same, gearbox is off the bx and was a later be3 so ive got c15 linkages and I modifed the bit on the subframe to shorten the throw. Wiring loom basically plugs in as I used the whole thing from the bx including ecu etc so theres only a few extra bits to do.

if you look at some of my photos you can see its totally stripped out, perspex windows etc so lighter than standard even with the rollcage. Its running on yokohama ao48r tyres which are borderline road legal and basically cut slicks :) As for fuel economy it is suprisingly good on the road going to events but the gauge is faulty, when showing half its infact empty as I found out at one event! So need to change that over the winter. As for the economy when competing, well, rubbish due to it being thrashed and the Visa issue of chucking it out its petrol cap heh!

Had a peer at your website - looks like a really clean wee Visa youve got there. I also noticed it was white with a KKK reg no.... :  I know a few Texans who would love your car!
Ta for the info on the swap - something for the future once my vans done!

That was one I bought for spares but ran it for a while on the road until the MOT ran out as it was rusty as hell underneath. The NPW one was my road car for a couple of years. OWA is the one I compete in and was originally a group N rally car when it was built in 1986.

I would love the comedy value of towing my visa behind a C15 but weight over the limit. There was a 6 wheel C15 at that meeting but I dont think that could tow enough either damm :)
