  • What is 'turbo sound?
  • What the hell is it?
  • Dump it, while the seller is attached to it
  • Does his town not warrant a capital letter?
  • Why and how does he want to 'miff his neighbours'? ASBO still running?

"turbo sound" is the idiot noise that some turbocharged petrol engines make when their pressure dump valve opens. There seems to be competition between these fools as to how loud they can make the whoosh noise.

This, however, is a speaker, connected to a £0.04 box of electronics, and a switch on the throttle linkage. It makes the same noise as a dump valve, and is utterly pointless.

Personally, I think it's a brilliant idea. Not because it's a good product, quite the opposite. It's brilliant because it makes money out of fools. Anyone who would waste £150 on £2 worth of electronics absolutely has to be exploited!
This is not a signature.

I am the real trog.
I thought that noise came from a steam-operated clutch.

It appears to be the boy racers version of clipping a bit of card to the back of my pushbike to get that MV Agusta sound when I was a kid...... :D

I see. IMHO, revving up the engine on a 2CV with a trafficlutch and switching the ignition makes a much better noise, as does the banshee hum of a Wilson preselector gearbox idling in neutral (cf Daimler, Riley, Lanchester, BSA).
This, however, is a speaker, connected to a £0.04 box of electronics, and a switch on the throttle linkage. It makes the same noise as a dump valve, and is utterly pointless.
Wonder if I could sell CDs or tapes of an RB211 spooling up for takeoff?

I've got to agree with you on that!
