Where can i find a Weber 34 DRTM for my 91' BX 1600 ?

Post by FrankBo »

Hi,

I'm searching a Weber carburettor as in subject, since my 91' 1600 BX's Solex Carburettor have problems to start when stopped along time, so it's necessary add gasoline on carb to start car -(

Can you help me? where can i found it? I need it with manual starter, not auto it's also good for me a Weber 34 DRTC (auto-choke) and a manual conversion kit.

Thanks in advice

You can easily find the carb in scrappys. Many PUG and Citroen models used it.

It it not worthwhile to repair the Solex that you have? Repair kits are still easy to find. Some shops also repair carbs.

Can you tell me which models use this carb? I know only older BX 1600 TRS
had it .... and in Italy is very very difficult find it in scrappys....
I don't want work on my Solex since it's a bad carburettor.......

Thanks

Peugeot 205(1.6), 305(1.6), 309(1.6), 405(1.6) uses this carburettor.
Any commercial van which is a derivative of above models.
Talbot 1.6 -
Most VW's with 1.6 engine

- of course in the approx same production years still fitted with carburettors.

Thanks Anders, do you think Peugeot models you mentioned have manual
starter or only auto choke? Some days ago a person said me it had a Weber
carburettor take from a BX 1900, but i think it's not correct for my BX 1600.... do you think i'm right?

I am almost sure that the 1600 and 1900 carburettors are not identical...

If I read your post correctly you are suffering from a hot start problem and have to prime the engine with petrol to get it to run.

This sounds like vaporisation and may still be a problem even if you fit another carburrettor. it can be caused by things like missing insulation under fuel pumps, incorrect hose routing, missing insulation under carburrettors, impedance of under bonnet airflow, hot running engines and so on.

do any of these sound likely?

If you get a carb from another engine, unless it is identical you will probably have the wrong jets in it.
