Xantia ABS...

Unread post by andmcit »

Rightho - over 15mph the light comes on and stays on until I restart the car.

I've checked the resistance through the ABS ECU feed pins and the four sensors read correctly.

The problem is how do I find the duff sensor that's breaking out at speed as when I undo the connectors [on the ECU or the sensor] to get a reading it resets the ECU and the pins out of the sensors show all is OK?

MOT looming as usual!!

Any dodges/comments/fixes gratefully accepted!

It may be worth mentioning that all was 100% BEFORE the engine was removed for some work - that's why I'm sure it's wiring/connectors although the ABS fluid block was swung sideways on the 'play' in the hydraulic feeds etc.

As soon as the car was together again the bloody light started it's thing when over 15mph.

Wasn't a happy bunny after all that work...

You didn't by any chance change either drive shaft while you had the engine out did you? if so could be the wrong type, giving the wrong ABS signal.

Hi Peter

Great stuff - you may very well be spot on - I did change the offside driveshaft...

A different view through the forum is what I was hoping for! The replacement came from an indy Cit specialist who assured me it was the right one for my car mind! :)

Are you suggesting there are differences to the number of ring teeth on different Xantia driveshafts?

Someone at Citroen has too much time on their hands...

Before I start ripping the car's hub apart are there any more suspect ABS ruses that I can check & rule out!?
