renault clio 1.8 16v 1993

im looking into buying one of these cheeky little motors

ive owned many cars but no renaults to date and i was just wondering what these cars are like?

ive been told they are fragille and to keep away from ones with no history!

how fragille is the f16 unit? what are they like mechannically?
are there any common problems or faults with these kind of motors?

looking foward to your views and critics

timeing belt,gearbox problems,clutch problems and head gasket woes oh and faulty radiator fans,water leaks,steering racks, all in labour alone costly to fix,never mind the parts.not alot of room in there.
