Megane Brake binding

Hi,

I have a problem with a binding brake after a few miles on the passenger side of a 1.4e RT P reg 96 Megane - Girling calipers.

So far i have checked/cleaned the caliper. piston & guides are moving freely. Replaced the flexi hose & pads & bled the whole system. Checked Vacuum Hose The problem is very strange.

When first driving the car the brakes feel fine the servo seems to be working correctly I.e pressing pedal until theres little pedal movement starting up & pedal goes down

Seems that if the brakes hit a certain temperature or roughly 3 miles of travel the brake pedal goes very firm & the passenger side front binds.

Sometimes can stop this by pumping the pedal but it soon returns
once cooled the pedal feels like you just fitted new pads & need to bring the piston up to meet the pads. Then the scenareo starts again any ideas as i would like to get this sorted to sell the car and i wouldn't like to pass this on to another poor motorist

I suspect the folowing - Caliper problems my next step was to get a service kit & strip the caliper. Then next replace the master cylinder if that fails.

Seems like i lose servo assistance but that would make braking very difficult & problems with all poss brakes sticking?? has anybody come across this as it has been driving me mad for the last few months lucky the car is hardly used & only travel short distances

Sure it's not a busted master cylinder? This could cause either really low brake pedale pressure or a pedal thats hard to push down. You can (or could) get repair kits. But saying that it may be easier to just buy a recon one if it turns out to be the master cylinder.
