Xsara central locking

Post by bpwood »

'98 Xsara TD Estate - central locking suddenly stopped working a few days ago. Have had problems before with broken wires in the o/s door hinge area, so checked again, but no breaks. Checked the tailgate wiring & found one broken wire - repaired this, but still no c/l. When you turn the key in the lock it makes no "c/l clunk" noise at all - again this is different to previous faults. Have also checked the wiring on all the other doors - no faults found.
Any ideas, please, soon as poss!

Drivers door master lock could be full of dirt. This may stop the signal to trip the door open.

Don't think that's the fault, as it won't lock from the n/s door either. Another odd thing - the courtesy light has stopped working, but flashes on & off in time with the indicators!

sounds like an earthing fault, possibly a broken wire somewhere.

After much fiddling, thought to look in Haynes - which suggested as a first step to check the fuses. Fuse F15 was blown ( it was a 15A, book said it should be 20A), so replaced it & now have c/locking again. What a muppet!
