electrical problem

hi all i have a eletrical problem if i turn the ignition on with out starting the engine. the wind screen blower works on all settings and the rear demister.but when i start the engine they dont work but if i turn the engine off but leave the ignition on they work again i havent got a clue will it be a relay???.

It would be helpful if you put your model etc of car!

If it's a Xantia, do a search on ignition switch, they fail and cause these symptoms.
