Xantia 1.8 1996 16v SX

Post by mikep »

Can anyone explain the ticking sound I get from the dashboard on my Xantia 1.8 SX when I start up ? I reported it to my garage and they did not get rid of it, but said it was probably a 'temperature sensor working to excess". They are a good garage so I can only assume the cost of correcting it is high.

IIRC the Xantia has a tiny blowerfan in the airduct right behind the grille to keep the cabin air temp sensor informed about air temp.
They wear and can make a faint ticking sound.

I have had my Xantia 1.8i 16v since 40K miles (R Reg) and it has always had the ticking sound from behind the vent and my garage said the same thing. I don't notice it anymore!
