Are we going to have a fuel shortage?

Post by Stinkwheel »

So blockades planned for 3 days, end of this week.
Some fuel stations already reporting 'panic' buying.
But fuel stations and oil companies reporting there will be no shortage.
What do we all think? Return to the september 2000 shortage? Or just hot air?

Saw a lot of panic buying today in cheshire, filling stations quieter here in Wales, filled mine up on friday, with the long range tank and the fact that I dont use it during the week I reckon itll last until october, then theres the special injector lubricant.

Yes I walked to Tescos at lunch and there was a massive queue of stupid people waiting to get into the petrol station! Way I see it, if theres no fuel I have an excuse to work from home and do less work although I will be annoyed if theres no shell optimax available a week Friday as im off to Somerset for a hillclimb in the Visa!

Fantastic, whilst all about me were queueing like you would not believe (and being marshalled to the remaining working pumps) - I went INTO Asda and bought the weekly shop and a load of £1.04 for 3L cooking oil.
Sorted![;)]

Local Tesco had no petrol at 7am, ASDA has closed the pumps, everywhere else is queuing like mad.
I've got the best part of 80L in the tank and no trips planned so that should last me 'till ... ooohhh Wed afternoon.[:p]

Bloody hell! I knew I should have gone for the 1.9td instead of the hdi [:(] .
Got home at about 7.30 and there is a Total station just round the corner- there was a seriously large queue. Im certain that these are the type of people that stand up as soon as the aeroplane lands even though theyve been told to remain seated and even though you cant go anywhere until they open the bloody doors! [:(!]
Anyone know if a Vaux Combo Y reg will run on Aldi/Lidl's finest? My brother has a couple of important trips to make down south over the next couple of days- possibly the worst time eh!

This might actually turn out to be a problem............
Have just spoken to a chap i know in peterborough and all the local fuel stations are closed because they have run out, apparantly the tesco there ran out at 9 am this morning?????
It seems more supplies are coming and its just numpties panic buying, but also an NHS worker i know has been told to keep vehicles full just in case.

Ahh, the beauty of the health service, five years ago I got a pass to enable me to fill up - kept the Laguna topped up to the brim (which kept the wife happy), and I used just 15L of fuel throuought the crisis in my little Honda Plack 90.
If I didnt have a 1.9D I would have to get another Plack 90 - ahh happy days, i love a good crisis!
