Can you solve this one?

Post by wrinklet1 »

Driving my Xantia Td, and all is well, THEN, the radio switches off, the ABS light lights up, the rev counter jumps when the indicator is swithed on..Why??? [}:)]
I have solved it [^] and really it could have cost £100's if I had gone to Citroen.
Can you solve it??
Paul.

Sound's as mentioned - a dodgy earth. Like when you press the brake pedal with the indicators on the brake light dimms - another earth problem.

nope, nothing to do with the wing indicator. Nothing to do with the brake pedal either.

OK so its gotta be something slight left of centre, i.e. its electrical in nature but maybe not caused directly by electrical item? No, probably not that sounds silly having read it back.
Its got to be a voltage drop thing, ABS light, radio turn off, rev counter etc all point to a voltage drop below the operating range.
could grasp at straws all night? Starter ? Short in fuses box due to water ??????? Give us a clue.

Well, its not the starter, or fuses, not even water getting in. It is electrical though

does the indicator CAUSE these problems, or are these all symptoms of the prob? Is it that the rev counter jumps when the indicator is on WHEN the prob is already apparent?
if its the latter, i'll go for either a strange short accross something that could possibly invert the voltage that gets heated up, stop soleonid possibly?
Or missing earth wire to gb?
Or ....?
