A few months ago I asked some questions regarding the rate at which I was going through disks on my Xantia 1.9TD SX '93. It seems like the third set are now on there way out also, 3 months / 5000miles. I stripped, cleaned, checked and double checked everything I know and have been shown about these disks (Thanks for all the replies, tried all suggestions). They are Bendix disks (266mm code 571757B) and Bendix pads (code BD266G). After 23,000 miles and three disks, the pads show almost no wear. My question..have I been given the correct components (Andyspares can you confirm this?), are my pads too hard? , has anyone else heard about the material defects in the pug 406 which share our disks? (which give them braking judder too). I'm about to change from the third Bendix disk to a Girling, any suggestions on changing pads to a different manufacturer? (without buying all singing, all dancing, stop on a sixpence super duper £200 pads). Brake judder only occurs between 45-30, on light braking.
Thanks to all who reply.

Hi For what its worth this problem with worn disc seem to get very much worse when non asbestos pads and linings were introduced. I have found that EBC black pads give good brakes with vertually no disc wear or damage. I have used them in BX's and XM's and after 4/5000 miles the machining marks on the disc's were still visable, a bonus is that they produce almost no dust and are not that expensive. I have no connection with EBC apart from being very satisfied.

for what its worth i have done many disc and pad changes but the citroen system is a strange one, when i change them "front" that is i allways bleed the breaking system simple on this type of system ie:- when you have wound the pistons right back and installed your discs/pads and put it all back together the car will be sat on its bottom level - dont start the engine yet, open the system bleed bolt (not the caliper) 1.1/2 turns and start the engine press the breakes several times then lock the bleed screw then return to normal hight, it has allways worked for me and i have had ro come backs hope this helps
