98 xantia rear suspension bushes

Post by chimo »

HI, my 98 xantia 1.9 td estate failed its MOT on drivers side rear bushing worn. He did not say what bushing is gone but how many bushings are there on the driver side back suspension? Is it a big job to change these.

2 bushes, big job, but if you are a DIY'er you will be able to do the job yourself. bush kit from GSF is about £23

Are you sure he meant a bush on the rear suspension? The rear suspension bushes on Xantias are fairly durable, I've dont remember hearing about anybody on this forum ever changing one.
There are quite a few posts about replacing the rearmost of the two bushes on the front suspension arms, they seem to go pretty commonly, I wonder whether it is in fact that bush that needs replacing.

Must be something else wrong - rear bushes would last the lifetime on Xantia & BX.
Sure the MOT guy did not mean the rear arm pivot bearings instead ?
- this is by far the most common & likely problem if anything is "worn" to a MOT failure on the rear.
