How do these work? Is it free regardless of the age of the car?
How do you know if the previous owner has had the work carried out?
Spotted the following on Honestjohn.co.uk for my Xantia:
2001 (May 1993 - August 1994): Recall od Xantias with electric sunroofs because electrics can short out leading to total failure of all electrics, stopping the car
My car is an August 1994 SX, with an electric sunroof. How do I find out if its been done, and if it hasn't, can I really drive into my local Citroen dealer and get them to perform the work free of charge on my 8 year old car?
How long does it take and is a courtesy car provided?

That may be a curly one. I don't know if the "statute of limitations" would apply. That may sound a bit melodramatic but that law is used universally to duck & weave around things.
I would suggest as your safest bet, writing to Citroen UK and asking the question. A written response would then give you something to stick under a dealers nose & possibly save a lot of arguments.
Even an e-mail which could be printed out if necessary should suffice.

Just called Citroen, who said despite my car being an August 1994 it isn't affected.
