Xantia door mirror

Unread post by carl »

A work colleague has been left with the bottom half of his door mirror. What is left is a metal insert with the cables still attached . He would like to know if the whole mirror/base have to be replaced as one or is there a way to replace just the top. The car is a 95 1.8 Xantia estate. If the whole unit has to be replaced are there any unforseen problems that can be associated with removal( I notice the alarm has a sensor that will need to be disturbed). Thanks

To replace the complete mirror assembly, you will have to remove the door panel to access the wiring connectors. It might be worth getting a secondhand mirror and see if it can be assembled on what's left

I had the misfortune to have to replace the whole mirror [V] a few weeks ago,it cost £15 from the scrapy but I was lucky the scrapy said that they were as rare as hens teeth.
As citronut said the door panel comes off (probibly the hardest part of the job)

If you think a Xantia one is rare, try getting one for a Mk2 XM!
