MPG DIFFERENCE

Post by mezuk04 »

Whats the rough difference regarding the MPG between a 1.9d R-reg ZX and a 1.6 petrol R-reg Xsara mainly on motorway journeys.

I would say about 30 percent, or less if its a non turbo.

Hmm Well I think a ZX 1.9D should do about 55-60 mpg.. But have no idea about the petrol egined cars..

You'll struggle to get 40mpg from the xsara, ZX D should do 50+mpg.

Simon? I get 40ish mpg on ave, and have had 55 mpg from my ZX 1.9D on motorway runs and it's an automatic.. My ZX would average a lot higher if it was able to get into top gear round town, but it doesn't change up into 4th gear under 40 mph.. Hence the low average. Based on that, I expected the manuals to do quite a lot better, i.e. 55 ish at least.
I am surprised that the Xsara is so heavy on fuel, being ugly is bad enough (Xsara Picwhatsit) [8)] without being thirsty as well!! [:D] lol..

My Xantia TD gets 48mpg, the non-turbo engine is more economical than the turbo diesel and a ZX is lighter than the Xantia so I'd expect the ZX to be getting mid 50s mpg. The Xsara I'd expect to give about 40mpg.

Xara diesel will probaly do about 50 - HDi may do more but the subject here is a petrol xara and I would have thought 40 was about right.

I'd expect a Xsara diesel to get better mpg than a ZX diesel (the Xsara comes with the HDI where as the ZX has the 1.9 XUD) but the original post was a petrol Xsara vs a diesel ZX.
