'97 Xantia's ABS warning light

The ABS warning light is on permanently for almost a year but the braking efficiency doesn't seem to have degraded. However I've never had to test it on the wet! How does one disable it on the dash should one be inclined to do so?

The brake efficiency is unaffected in the dry but the ABS will prevent you locking the wheels in the wet. I cant tell you the answer to the other one for fear of aiding and abbeting!
