I've tracked down a replacement electric door mirror, but the glass got cracked in transit. Is it easy to swap over the glass from the old mirror or will trying to remove it ruin the internal mechanism?
Would a stick-on replacement be the easier solution?

The Xantia wing mirrors before to the facelift were just plain, slightly convex mirrors (which is what I assume a stick on mirror will be). After the facelift, they gained a curved end to eliminate your blindspots, the stick on mirrors definately won't have this curved end piece.
I test drove a facelifted Xantia which had a stick on mirror because the mirror had been cracked, and it was just a mess, the stick on wasn't the right size or shape and you could see the broken mirror underneath it.

The one I have is passenger side on a Xantia & it is not convex at all, so not to OE spec. It's horrible & definitely dangerous - I have to look over my shoulder rather than rely on it as the blindspot is so bad.
To add insult to injury, I have the receipt for it from the previous owner. He was charged £18 odd plus VAT & fitting for it (at a Citroen specialist), compared to £6.50 from Halfords! The genuine one I have on order is £12.44.....
