laguna front bearing or gearbox noise update

hi guys
just brought a luguna 2.2 diesel rn today its a great car but there,s a sort of whine wich disappers when i accelerate and its there all the time im driving (crusing) ive been told its the front wheel bearing but i cant make up my mind where,s is coming from is there any way of pin pointing the noise does the wheel bearing make this kind of noise.
any ideas guys.

gearbox gives trouble!!!! quit often the diff[:(]

sorry forgot to add,if you can get the car up on a ramp and run it in gear you should be able to quit easily pin point it

Thanks for that good idea i,ll have to get someone to have a look at it for me. Also id like to ask what does the wheel bearing sound like when that goes as the dealer i brought it from said it was the wheelbearing. Anyway while i was on my way to work today the sound was there even when the car was out of gear and coasting (i just tried this to see what happend) could it still be the diff i hope not i also think it would be a good idea to have the gearbox oil checked.

hi guys
the dealer i brought my car from has offered to do the wheelbearing for me he insists it the near side front wheelbearing so its going back to him one day this week ill keep you updated i hope it is this and not the diff we,ll soon find out.
