zx 1.9 td volcane power steering pump

my power steerering pump as just broken but i need my car tomorrow can i disconnect the pump by changeing the altanator belt for a none power steerering 1.9 d engine till i can get a new pump.
17000 miles ok till now

You could, but its damned heavy / dangerous to steer when working against the power steering set up.
