New Alloys for Activa

Unread post by activa »

I' m thinking of changing my Activa's standard alloys with 16" ones, without affecting the "offset".
Do you have details about the car's geometry (offset)
Do you know any known brands to have nice designs?
Thank You

Doesn't the Activa use specially reinforced alloys to cope with the high lateral stresses imposed by the ARC system? I would leave them standard.

Richard, this might be true, and it is a Good point ! But the standards are a bit narrow and the tyres "overflow" at the edge of the alloy.
Moreover, 16" would give better looks to the car...
In any case guys, I am not selling them!...

sorry to tell you this but moving to 17" and 215 wide makes very little diference, the only thing you will get from 16s are the looks advantage and i still havent found anything that looks as good on a xantia as the original activa alloys.
and yes the alloys are reenforeced.

I wouldn't have thought an Activa would need specially strong wheels, the Xantia isn't particularly heavy. Cornering forces aren't the biggest forces that the wheels on the car have to put up with, bumps in the road give much bigger forces and the car has to be robust so people can drive it up and down curbs etc without it breaking.

Kowalski is right there - the metal alloy for these wheels are pretty cheap and cheerful and probably contain a lot of inherent defects
