306 Xsi wiper self parking

Post by New Pug Owner »

Hi to all,
As a new 306 Xsi owner converted from a VW Golf Gti owner.
I have only two problems with this great car.
firstly the windscreeen wipers are having a problem self parking,
They sometimes stop 3/4 across the windscreen then then slowly plip down until they are parked. Any idea's ??
Also i seem to have they same alarm problem as a few others,It keeps going off for no reason.
Apart from these two problems, What a fantasic car......

Hi
The parking switch on the wiper motor has gone faulty, Scrapyard & pick up a decent second hand motor.
Wiper motors are a 306 weak spot!
The alarm problem is fixed by pulling the fuse / plug to the box, Once the Peugeot alarm starts going wrong it can cost lots of money to repair it, Your better off without it or getting another much better alarm fitted to the car, Also another Peugeot weak spot.
One other 306 weak spot is the wires between the A post & the front doors, These snap & cause all sorts of odd electrical problems with mirrors, windows, central locking & the alarm.

The problem with your wipers is a dirty "park" contact in the wiper motor. If you are handy with spanners, you need to remove the motor, take the cover off and clean the tracks on the large round wheel in the motor housing. It often also helps to bend the contacts up a bit so that they press harder on the wheel.
The alarm is often due to over-sensitive interior sensors. I understand that the system can be armed but with the interior de-activated. I have no idea how though!

Hi
To arm the system with the interior sesnors switched off, With the key removed from the igntion press & hold the alarm button on the dash untill the red alarm warning led comes on & stays on, around 2 - 3 seconds.
Get out & lock the car, The alarm warning led will go back to normal alarm armed flashing mode & the interior sensors will be turned off.
You would have to do this everytime you locked the car.
A new set of sensors I think is around £25 from Peugeot, But dont quote me on that.
