Groaning from front suspension

My ZX has been making a groaning sound when turning with a big steering angle (almost 1 turn of the steering wheel) and specially when turning and changing altitude (for example, turning for an or down ramp).
I haven't had a chance to look under the car but I suspect a dry bushing.
Am I correct or should I expect something worse? Where should I begin looking?

Does it feel heavy or lumpy? If it does - beware and read this thread - especially the posting by Dave Burns

Steering seems fine, only the moaning sound.
