I am having problems with the brakes on my 1994 diesel 306.
Under heavy braking the pedal goes quite hard, brakes fade badly and a smell of burning brake pads enters the car.
I have recently replaced the front discs and pads thinking the pads were of inferior quality and getting too hot. The burning smell has not gone though.
The brakes are not dragging and I am able to push the pistons back quite easily so this is not the problem.
I have also had problems with the vaccuum pump pipes. The flexible pipe from the pump to the steel pipe which runs across the top of the intercooler has been replaced. I now have an excellent vaccuum reading as measured before the master cylinder with a gauge.
I'm beginning to think the master cylinder/servo is at fault.
Anyone else seen this type of problem before? Any help appreciated.
