suspension drop link??

Post by Immatoity »

Hi
My rear arm bearings have failed (I think)...Xantia rear end sqeaks and groans terribly and has done so for months..
Anyway, my poor old Dad is trying to investigate but says that he needs to get the suspension drop link off before he can even get to the area concerned...he does not know how, nor how to get the gaitor off...
any help appreciated...
PS I cannot search forum (firewalled) so apologies if asked before.

There are some diagrams here :
http://citroeny.cz/servis/xantiaser/xantia.html
I believe you in fact meant the ARB (anti roll bar) ? - as there are no droplinks on the rear. The ARB will mask which side is the worst but not that the problem is there.
The job involves 3 major trials :
1) removing the ARB (bolts are incredible tight)
2) removing the arm long pivot bolt (again a tight bolt/nut) (24mm ring & box spanner needed)
3) removing the old bearing races from the arm
All bits you need for the job is contained in a repair kit (pr side/arm) GSF stock no listing :
N42358 REAR ARM REPAIR KIT BX ALL (EXC BX 4X4) ARM REPAIR KIT 21.00
Its the same kit for BX & Xantia - as the rear arm bearing setup is the same. Note : if your Xant is an Estate - you need a different kit.
