Quick TU3 question

Post by rossnunn »

according to the haynes manual to change the camshaft on a tu3 series engine I have to remove the head. Is there a little trick that enables me to removed the camshaft without parting the head from the block?
It could be done in my old 1.2 nova but removing the drivers side engine mount & lifting the engine up.

The camshaft has to slide out of the head at the cambelt end, so if there is a way of moving the engine so you have that space, I would say yes. To do that though, you have to remove the engine mountings, driveshafts etc etc. It would probably be easier to either remove the head (Does it have the common TU trait of an oil leak down the front left of the block??) or remove the engine.

right I have a plan, the engine is very clean at the mo no leaks anywhere, but as we know it only a matter of time, so I'm going to probably wait til then
