406 Internal fan stopped working - Now Sorted!!

Post by lesnajair »

Hi All
As above, the Mrs drove my 406 with air con switched on. After arriving home, and getting back in to go out again, the air con does not switch on, nor does the internal fan.
I've checked the fuse in the internal fusebox as well as the fuses in the engine compartment, and all are still intact. Tonight, I've totally dismantled the heater control panel to check the sliding 'rheostat' switch which has proven to be ok!
I think I've run out of other things to check! Can anyone please tell me if there is a known problem or if there is any other component to check before I have to take it to the PUG dealer!!
Thanks in advance

PS Sorry, but just noticed the previous post is asking the same question, but am still after the same answer!!

***UPDATE***
The fan and air-con have just started to work again! I was going to seek advice from Pug, when all appears to be normal!!
Fingers crossed!

NOPE
It's gone again! Bloody thing!
I've been advised that it may be dodgy relays that stop power getting to the switch. Could anyone please tell me which relays may be the culprits or at least where I should be looking?
Thanks for your advice!

The relays are just above the bonnet release, remove the cover and try the yellow one hope this helps .

Boo! The yellow relay appears to be for the passenger electric window!!
Any other ideas?

NOW SORTED
Took it to my auto electrician, who tracked it down to the ignition switch. Ordered one from Peugeot for £52. At the last minute, I went to my local scrappy and got one for £5!!
Bonus! Now I'm happy.
Thanks to all who replied!

Had the same problem and the same cure on a Citroen Xantia!
It struck me as not the most obvious place to look for a solution!
Thats the beauty of forums!
