406 Fuel Leak.

Post by Straightsix »

Hi All,
Own a 96 1.9 TD. GLX, 160,000 on the clock. Its always been a great runner and starts 1st pop every morning. The last few days has seen a loss of power in the 1st 2 or 3 miles then all is sweet when it warms up also when left for any amount of time its hard to start but always does. Today I smelt diesel in the cabin and had a good look under the bonnet, there is a definate [small]fuel leak which seems to be coming from behind the fuel filter housing. Can't see the cause of it just where its going to.
Anyone got any ideas before I go to main dealer hell?
Thanks in advance....

If it's behind the fuel filter, it could be one of the fuel leak-off pipes.

Cheers John,
Found that it was the actual fuel filter housing leaking from the bottom. Hopefully just a case of fitting a new one.
Let you know how I get on, thanks for your interest...

In which case it might be the drain screw that loose.
