Ford TDCI engines

Are the Ford TDCI engines(1.4,1.6 & 2.0)related to the PSA HDI`s[?]
I heard that they were.

Yes, developed as a joint venture between Ford's money and PSA's skill.
My father drove a 1.6HDi Picasso hire car and he was not at all impressed. He owns a 2.0HDi 90bhp Picasso.

This is a bit of a complicated question really.
Ford had a 1.8 litre diesel indirect diesel engine for many years, it appeared in the Fiesta, Escort etc. When the focus came along it got a 1.8 TDCi, this was made by Ford but there was some engineering input from PSA. Ford also developed a 2.0 TDDi engine for the current shape of Mondeo, this was all their own work, but PSA developed that into the TDCi, this is the 128bhp engine that the Jaguar X type and Mondeo currently get and is made by Ford.
The 1.4HDI and 1.6HDI have been rebadged as TDCi in Fords but the 2.0 16v HDi also appears in Fords as HDI, it's in the new Focus, i.e. there are two different 2.0 TDCi engines in Fords, one is made by PSA the other is made by Ford.
So, the short answer yes some of them are, but not all of the 2.0s.

And Fords family of companies also have HDi engines, the new Volvo S40/V50 2.0 diesel engine is a Ford/PSA lump, same 2.0 136bhp engine as the 307 HDI 136 etc etc

Theres a nice PSA developed 2.7 V6 diesel lump under the Jaguars bonnet too.
It seems PSA put themselves about a bit, Developing petrol engines for the facelifted Mini with BMW, The new 107 / C1 / Aygo with Toyota & they are working with Mitsubishi on a 4 x 4 project.

I always thought the new Mini's engines were a Crysler/ BMW effort, not PSA? The mini diesel engine is simply Toyotas D4D.

The current BMW Mini uses the Chrysler developed engine, But BMW are to facelift the Mini soon & they have a new 1.6 litre petrol engine under development with PSA
The basic Minis will still use the Chrysler lump for a few more years yet but the sporty Minis will get the new BMW / PSA lumps.
