Towbar fitting

Post by shiney »

Mrs shiney has a picasso I want to put a tow bar on it. Is this an easy diy job and are there any instructions on the web?
Thanks

If you buy a decent towbar then yep its an easy enough job to fit - the electrics can pose a problem if its CAN bus / multiplex wiring.

Fitting the towbar should be no problem, but Picci's are multiplexed so wiring the 12N socket is a bit complicated. Look at Towsure's website - they do electrical kits with the necessary relays.

Ive been told the multiplex only works from the front and the lighting socket can run direct from the rear lights. This is from an Authorised witter fitter.

Towsure used to be very cheap though closer Witter prices now. http://www.towsure.com/. The one I used years ago was fine except though when I asked they assured me it used the pre-drilled holes on the Cit - it didn't. It used two of the four and the other two needed drilling which added a smidgeon of hassle.
