206 Diesel Info Required

Unread post by demag »

My Son wants to buy a 1.4 206 diesel.
He wants to spend about 5-6 grand.
Anything we need to watch out for?
Thanks.

Hi mate, well DV4s are a economical little engine and pull the 206 along at a fair pace considering, Look out for oil leaks from the cam cover, neglect in sercicing, Dont be fooled If it rattles inside the cabin, The engine covers probably loose (very common) if possible check its had the recalls done, I.e the camshaft buffer stop one, and the Brake pin recall, apart from that check its got both keys and its transponder card, if the strip on the card has been scratched off question why, check the com 2000 unit (Indicator switches) as they are massivey prone to failing, apart from that listen for any knocks bangs and look for excessive smoke!
Cheers

If the strip on the security card has been scratched off then someone has the details to make another transponder key for the car.
Like Rs Rosco said, Ask questions why.

you also need the the car to be present + a Diag2000 machine to code the key,if someone has accsess to these then the chances are they could easily get the code from peugeot from the chassis number anyway.
the code would have been needed to code a spare key/plip or required to download the BSI & to fit a new BSI or injection ECU if they have been replaced.
