Valve Clearances

Has anyone checked and adjusted the valve clearances on a Citroen ZX 1.4i. As mine makes a tapping noise that seems to becoming from the valve gear area when the engine is cold. However it quietens down when the engine warms. IS THIS A DIY JOB OR IS IT BEST LEFT TO THE GARAGE.

i would try an oil and filter change, use semi synthetic oil 10w/40 of good quality (a flush) cant harm befor you do this, if the noise persists then do the tappets the gap depends on the engine number or if you have the manuel its not a big job
