Unread post by lurchy666 »

i know this a problem which is a bit basic but on my xantia all the lights on thetop row of warning lights above the stop light and oil light have stopped coming on when i turn the ignition on, these lights are the battery light, abs, engine coolant light, etc i've checked all the bulbs and the connections with the dash and with a tester tested the circuit board and found no probs has any 1 else had this problem if any one knows a way to get them working let me know please its driving me mad trying to find out whats wrong with them cheers john

My first guess is a broken earth link.

it could be a broken live feed or earth wire so why not try putting a live first and if no light then an earth, this is the long way round but at least it will tell you which point is missing then all you have to go is open the loom and find the elusive pest.

There are 4 electrical fitting connections to the dash pod. The right hand black one feeds this area on the instrument pod. Have you checked for a firm connection? take a voltmeter to this connector and check for an input to the PCB on the pod. Dry joints are not uncommon on these circuit boards.

have you tried the bulbs in other ports, these are a pain for not making good connections.

I have even had to use pliers some times to ensure they are turned in right, if the bulbs are ok then it has to be a poor connection or a hairline crack on the solder or PCB tracks.
