Heater Fan Motor - ZX

Unread post by GRAHAM P »

Calling all ZX experts. Having discovered that my Heater Fan Motor has burnt out on my ZX (ingress of water), I am now forced to have it replaced, but am planning on changing it myself. Has anyone changed one themselves. Is it an easy job to do? Any tips would be appreciated.

Just to check; are you sure the it's the fan-motor and not just the fan speed sensor. The reason why I'm asking is because I thought the same thing when my fan motor stopt. My problem was a faulty speed sensor.
But back to your question. Changing the fan motor is a fairly easy jobb. Just remove the glove box. You will find screws in the glove box and under it. Then remove the carpet cover under the box. You will now see the fan motor housing. Remove the bottom of it. 3 screws if I remember correct. Then just take out the old one and replace it with a new one. Can't remember if you have to plug out the cable connected to the fan motor housing. Good Luck!!

again questioning if it is motor or resistor unit in air intake duct best way to check is to earth motor direct if works probably resistor you will need to remove windscreen scuttle to replace this. reason for water getting in is blocked drain hole in bulkhead trough.
