Shared XUD engines?

Post by Will2cv »

Hi All
Just a quick question. I know that the XUD was used in other makes of car other than Cit/Pug but I heard that some Rovers also had them fitted? A work collegue has a Rover 400 ('97 R plate) and had done about 20k without a service so I've offered to do one [:o)]
Without access to a Haynes BOL for said car, would it be likely to be a 1.9D/TD in it or one of Rovers own recipies?
Thx for any info

That Rover will have a Rover 'L' Series diesel engine in it. It was the old 218 td and 418 td that had the 1.7 XUD in them.
20k is a lot of mileage between services, personally I'm changing oil at 5k intervals.

Thanks for the reply, looks like I'd better have a look at the Haynes manual then to see what goes where!
Yes it is a pretty fantastic mileage between services which is partly why I've offerd to help. My BX TZD has oil & filter every 6000, it's just nicely run in now at 150K miles and still going strong [:)]
