R reg Xantia estate 1.9 TD sx tailgate problem

Can't open the tailgate at the moment - wondered if there was a release inside the car?.

Have a look in your owners manual - both ZX and BX have detailed instructions as to how to open the tailgate from the inside.
ZX has a cover which is secured by plastic thumbscrews and can be easily undone - then just fiddle with the lock mechanism and it pops open. BX has an aperature - put your finger through it and find the lever.
