Hi everyone
I've recently purchased a Citroen ZX Volcane, to replace my Aura TD (which still in the for-sale section btw [;)]), and I've run into some bother with my insurance company Direct Line, over the original Factory Fitted alarm and key-pad imobilser.
They are insisting that I provide a certificate for installation and operation of the imobilser (I've already had it tested at an indepedent Citroen specialist...but they've just rejected that as proof of installation).
I'm having the car inspected by them next week, but if the alarm and imboliser isnt approved, I'll have to have a second imboliser fitted in line with the key-pad one (a thatcham one). Has anyone else had any experience of having had to fit a second imobiliser in line with the key-pad imobilser?
Cheers

Volcane Alarm & Imobilser issue

You mean to say that some idiots are putting you to all this trouble for a car that has virtually no value and probably would be untouched if you left it unlocked with the keys in it (and the existing immobiliser primed?)
Can't you find someone more sensible to deal with? Just imagine if you tried to claim from these idiots? - they'd do everything they could to avoid it!

Hi
Thatcham list the ZX diesel keypad from september 1996 as Cat 2 & no ZX ever had a factory Cat 1 system fitted.
Its most likely the Volcane spec is a higher risk of being stolen & they would like it better protected.
The standard fit Citroen ZX alarm ( If its still working ) & keypad isn't much use against a car thief anyway.

This sounds a bit strange to me.I've had my '97 ZX TD insured with Direct Line(fully comp.) and have never been asked for any proof. I have just renewed this month with Privilege(part of Direct Line, only cheaper)and they accepted the standard fit alarm no problems.

The 97 ZX TD has a Thatcham Cat 2 immobiliser fitted at the factory, The insurance company wouldnt need to see proof of fitment for this.
