Well, after checking my car's suspension in search for a "thunk", I got to the usual suspects, the drop links and indeed, the driver's side one has failed.
Are they difficult to replace? Any hints/tips?

I did them on my 16V about 4 years ago and had no problems since.
As you live in a warmer climate than the owners in the UK chances are yours has the same problems mine had and it is more a service related problem than a need to replace.
