BX 19GTi

Post by mudinureye »

Greetings all, I hope you can help me. I have a 19Gti of 1990 vintage, which has blown a hose. My problem is that I don't know what the hose is called, as I am a mechanical ignoramus.
It connects to a metal pipe at the top of the engine, runs round the back, connects to another metal pipe, then runs under the engine. It has something to do with the cooling system, as, when it split, the radiator emptied itself.
I know these are the rantings of a fool, but, I like the car, it has 70000 genuine miles on it, I don't want to scrap it, and I don't want to pay a mechanic the budget of a small country to fix it. If I knew what the part was, I would order it and fix it myself.
Can you help?
Thank you, in advance!<font color="blue"></font id="blue"> [:o)]

That is a helpful hint, I didn't even know that could be done. I'll do it at lunch time.
Thanks!!

Here to help, when i needed some breather pipe i went in and explained what i needed to the guy on the parts desk, he turned the screen to me and asked me to point out which bit i needed.
Might take the P155 a bit if you dont actually buy it from them though [:o)]

Good man, problem solved. It is the hose that goes into the thermostat housing unit. Costs £6.5. + VAT, so no big expense.
Next problem about to be posted!!

dont go back into the woods yet, theres another little one on the other end of that steel pipe, its the same age as the one you have replaced, I suggest you purchase that one too and carry it as a lucky charm[:D]
