Hi Folks,
Having problems with an intermittent reading on the rev counter.
Checked and cleaned external plug connections, no change.
Questions:
1.Does any one know what the resistance should be on a working sensor?.
2.Has any one used a RPM sensor on diesels, not fitted with a RPM gauge?.
SORTED...
I can confirm that the sensor fitted to BX diesels not fitted with a RPM gauge works..
The resistance was about 60 ohms...
Cheers

They don't just go open circuit, the rev counter on my XM would rise to about 1000 rpm then drop back to zero, when I eventually managed to remove it, it had been damaged by something that the flywheel must have picked up and the winding was falling off. Flywheel bottom cover plate missing!

Hi Tom,
Interesting!!!...
Well the 2 that I have here are both off of 17 diesels, one from a BX, and the other from My Visa.
They read 69.3 and 63.4Ohms respectively.
The one from the BX works, and I see no reason why the other one would not work either.
The original was open circuit in the coil, so could not verify the resistance.
Cheers
Brian
