Speedometer
Xantia 1.9 TD
Anybody have any ideas please. My speedometer suddenly stopped working, switched off engine and restarted speedo worked for a couple of miles then stopped, oddometer stops working as well.
if car rested then the speedo works for about 9 miles then stops untill car has cooled down. Dont know which end to start either the transducer or the speedo or is there someting in between.
As you will see from my postings later on fixed problem, local gsf advised they didnt sell part but when I contacted gsf french specialist 0208 9173976 they gave me the part number quicker than I could ask the question, and there was 1n in stock at local branch, probably because they didnt know what it was. (btw all 3 on the desk didn't know even though I called it a transducer or a speed sensor, they have it listed as a speed sensor)
now over 1000 miles since fix and luckily its still working, perhaps I shouldn't speak to soon, but that xxxxx plastic bit on the clutch cable gave in, luckily I was on a friends drive at the time.

Sorry to crash your citroen post but I have the same problem with my 406 speedo and odometer, they work as and when they feel like it(but at the same time), assuming the Xantia and 406 are pretty similar electically, what does a transducer look like and where would I look to find it?- Also sometimes the speedo and fuel gauge will both jump around for a few seconds then die on me for a while.
Thanks
Thanks
Hi,
Just read this topic, i have somehow the same problem. Here the speedo works, but not the odometer! The odometer comes and goes whenever it wants. Also it's not reliable when it works as it shows revs in red area most of the time, but the engine doesn't seem to run as high!
The speedo is not also calibrated i think. As my GPS shows about e.g. 70 mph but speedo shows something betweed 80-85 mph.
Any idea?
Regards, Sahand.

Transducer is attached to the gearbox. I don't know how it looks like.
