Any Simca experts out there?

Just bought a 1973 Simca 1100 and the brake pedal is solid, any ideas? First thought was seized front brake cylinders but im new to this so wandered if there are any other checks i could do before dismantling the calipers?

Master cylinder rusted solid is fairly likely if there is no movement at all. If the calipers are seized, I'd expect the pedal to move a bit, even if only to allow for the expansion of the flexible hoses.

Probably the master cylinder but could be brake pedal pivot itself siezed

I think the master cylinder on these is an aluminium piston in a cast iron bore. If there's been water in there you can bet your life that the aluminium and iron have gotten "up close and personal". I think it's going to need either replacing, or at the very least a damn good reconditioning.
